PlanSmash is a mobile application project, with productivity in mind. It allows users to add tasks and plan their completion in due course. A standout feature of this app is that one can add tasks related to various areas of their personal life, such as work or school, business, travel, and other miscellaneous tasks.
Apart from tasks and their dates of completion, users are also equipped with the option to add photos as points of reference to tasks, and mark them as being either complete or to be completed. Furthermore, the application also has pop-up alerts if the user plans to commit to a certain action. The idea of this is to give control to all users on the app, empowering them and ensuring productive habits.
The app was produced using Thunkable, a no-code mobile app design service. Thunkable builds instructions between different elements, such as labels, buttons, images and text, inside the app with the use of puzzle blocks. This allowed me to build conditions and actions within the app, ensuring that the app fulfills its main objectives and functions.
Along with the coding, there was also a third-party service integrated called Firebase, a database storing use login data. This allows users to log into the app using their Google account. There was also an opportunity for speculative design, with the Thunkable Live app that allowed to test my application and inspect how robust my applications were.
Given this was the first time I ever made a mobile app, for the most part, I believe that my mobile app was a success, because I was able to integrate common app features available on Thunkable, such as welcome and login screens, input forms, data viewer lists and pop-up alerts. The use of the Thunkable Live app for robust testing proves that this process included a lot of trial and error, and allowed me to examine critically which features and how they should be integrated.
In conclusion, this project was a great opportunity at understanding programming as a powerful tool in helping both businesses and individuals thrive.
